Offsite Activities

Ready to hit the beach? We can facilitate a range of safe, rewarding activities for your group, located right on our doorstep.

Beach Games / Rock Pool

Collaroy Beach is a patrolled beach a 5-minute stroll from The Collaroy Centre. It offers a wide expanse of sand and a well-kept 50-meter rock pool.

Collaroy Centre staff run a variety of beach games, including flags, Frisbee, Soccer, Touch Football, Volleyball, and Sand Castle Challenges. If the group wants to include swimming, we will book a lifeguard through Warringah Council for the session. Note: Students are required to wear shoes at all times during Beach Games.

Raft Building

This team-building activity takes place at the Collaroy Rock Pool. Teams are each given the challenge of building a raft using provided equipment. Once the rafts are constructed, each team nominates a ‘test dummy’ to paddle their team’s raft across Collaroy Rock Pool.

The entire group is involved in the activity, whether designing, building or paddling the raft. Note: The participant who paddles the raft will be required to have swimming ability and will be wearing a life jacket. Students are required to wear shoes at all times.

Kayaking

Kayak leisurely around nearby Narrabeen Lake. Arranged through Prokayaks, single and double kayaks are available, and their qualified and friendly staff can cater to groups of many sizes and abilities. Narrabeen Lakes is a safe and protected environment where students can participate without being exposed to boat traffic, adverse conditions or dangerous marine life.

Note: Students are required to wear shoes at all times during Kayaking.

Stand-Up Paddle Boarding

Arranged through Prokayaks Narrabeen, paddle around Narrabeen lakes on a SUP. Do you have the balance, fitness and agility to stay on?

Note: Students are required to wear shoes at all times during Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Learn To Surf

Learn to Surf is run by professional surfers and arranged through Manly Surf School. Depending on the day’s conditions, surfing is conducted at Collaroy or Long Reef Beach.

Night Activities

The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down! Choose from a range of nighttime activities to suit your vibe and energy levels.

Movie Night

Ever wanted to rent out the cinema for you and all your mates? Make that a reality with our Cinema Package at The Collaroy Centre!

After a long day of activities/sessions, how does sitting in our 130-seat Lecture Theatre, eating popcorn and drinking a soft drink or water with all your friends sound? Select from a wide range of movies, sit back and enjoy!

Night Games

Collaroy Centre staff will coordinate several active, and exciting group-based games that encourage teamwork, collaboration, competition and using up any leftover energy from a day on activities.

Night Hike

Long Reef Headland is about a 40-minute walk away from the Centre. From the top of the Headland, you can look back and see The Collaroy Centre lit up at night and enjoy the beautiful sea breeze.

Interactive Trivia

Do you have a competitive streak? Do you want a bit of a challenge? Collaroy Centre staff can run interactive and fun trivia/challenge nights for groups of all sizes and ages. If you want to mix it up with some games, we can do that, too!

Abseiling

Abseiling is about pushing your personal barriers and overcoming mental challenges. The tower is a 4-sided artificial structure that allows a number of descent options:

Drop Pole

After climbing a 13-metre solitary pole to a platform, push yourself further by stepping out into the open air for a quick 3-second drop. Although you’ll be safely harnessed into an auto-belay system, the freefall will get your adrenaline pumping!

Flying Fox

Race your friends down our 70-metre Flying Fox side by side. Harnessed in and attached to a zip line, overcome your fears as you launch off the platform and have an exhilarating ride to the end where one of our experienced instructors will help you disembark by ladder.

Vertical Challenge

Our Vertical Challenge activity is a 10 metre, vertical obstacle course located on our adventure tower. This course involves team building, and mountaineering-style climbing, where teams of 3 have to climb together while the rest of the group belays. This activity involves working as a team to negotiate several obstacles suspended in the air.

High Ropes

This two-level course consists of 6 elements on each level, reaching up to 10m off the ground at its highest point.

Harnessed and using continuous belay, participants climb a ladder to the top level, climb a log to the first level, and use a flying fox to descend each level. Supervised at all times, this activity is all about pushing through mental barriers and gaining a sense of accomplishment.

Giant Swing (Swing By Choice)

The Giant Swing challenges you to go beyond your comfort zone and be hauled to the highest point you can handle. Once this point is reached, the participant can pull “The Rip Cord” and enjoy the giant swing experience. The max height of the giant swing is 15m. The group is responsible for hauling each participant up to the height of their choice, so teamwork is the name of the game.

Archery

Go back to medieval times and try your hand at the ancient sport of archery. You will be using a bow and arrow to aim at a target 15 metres away. Try increasing your accuracy and acute skill with this competitive sport while having fun with your friends to see who can hit the bullseye.

Bubble Soccer

A new twist on an old classic. It’s a 5-a-side game of Soccer, but your body is protected by a giant bubble. Get knocked over, bounce right back up again. The rules are simply: run, shoot, score, dive, bounce and have the time of your life. Bubble soccer also includes a range of mini-games played inside and is a fantastic option for those with a lot of energy to burn.

Challenge Course

This five-part team-building activity includes challenges such as the TT Log, the Wall, Nitro Crossing, the Beam, and the Maze. The objectives of our five-part Challenge Course are to build cooperation, teamwork, and communication skills.

  1. TT Log – Similar in design to a see-saw, the aim of the TT Log is to balance the group on top of the log for at least 30 seconds. If either end touches the ground at any time, the event must start again.
  2. The Wall – Here, you must get all team members over a 2.5m or a 3m wall without any initial assistance from the top of the wall and without using any external resources. NOTE: This is a relatively physical activity that involves lifting.
  3. Nitro Crossing – Can you move a tin of “Nitro Glycerine” liquid from one side of an island across “a river” to the other without spilling it? All team members must also get across the river without getting wet, and if anyone touches the water or spills the liquid, it’s back to the start!
  4. The Beam – Half the group starts at one end of the log, and the other half starts at the opposite end. Facing towards the centre of the log, each group must move to the opposite end of the pole without anyone touching the ground. It’s much harder than it sounds!
  5. The Maze – A test in communication skills for groups of two or three; one teammate is blindfolded, and the other becomes the leader. Using their own language to communicate directions, the leader stands outside the maze and directs their teammate through from beginning to end. Once through, they rotate so that everyone has a turn in being the leader.

Eco-Challenge

This “adventure race” inspired activity is a great way to challenge even the strongest groups. Incorporating different onsite activities, groups navigate the grounds, completing several challenging tasks. No one-man bands are allowed here; each participant must complete at least one task, but teamwork makes the dream work.

Note: This activity involves several onsite activities that can vary for different groups.

Fun In The Sun

As the title suggests, this session is all about fun. You will complete a group of team challenges: Slip n’ Slide, Gauntlet, Dodge Sponge, Tube Lock, Sponge Relay, Aqua-Boot Race & Basketball Showdown. The added bonus is that you will get drenched, which is a perfect activity for summer. This session is fun and full of thrills and spills.

Note: Students are required to wear shoes at all times during Fun in the Sun.

Initiative Course

This five-part team-building activity includes a Spider’s Web, Magic Carpet, the Meuse, Trolleys, and the Matrix.

  1. Spider’s Web—Here, you must pass each group member through a separate web opening without letting any part of the body touch any part of the web. Once a member uses an opening, that section is closed to further passage.
  2. Magic Carpet – Move combinations of marked tiles around your group to form words and patterns using the floating Magic Carpet.
  3. The Meuse – Can you cross the “raging crocodile-infested swamp” using only three planks of wood and one length of rope? The whole group and all equipment must make it without dropping anything or anyone into the ‘crocodile’s territory’.
  4. Trolleys—The group must move from one designated point to another, using only the trolleys as a vehicle. You can either line up on the two planks (one for each foot) and walk in time to the endpoint or caterpillar your way to the end by all standing on one plank and dragging the second through to the front. This is all about teamwork and communication.
  5. Matrix—This activity aims to move the group through the matrix, a horizontal cargo net. It can be run simply by stepping on a certain pattern, with the whole group following that pattern. Or it can be run more like a horizontal spider’s web, in which the group must traverse the matrix without touching any of the sides of each hole.
  6. Puzzles – Can your team solve a life-size lateral thinking puzzle before your competition does? The only way is to cooperate, plan, and execute to achieve the goal! Teamwork and communication skills are the key, and each puzzle progresses from the previous, ranging from a one-step puzzle to a seven-step puzzle. – Remove, not an individual activity that is offered, is part of Initiatives.

Laser Tag

Our Laser Tag has had a huge upgrade! It now includes a bigger playing area and two shipping containers to maximise each game. It is a great team-building experience that challenges individuals with teamwork and strategy skills.

Our dedicated Laser Tag area offers a variety of games, including Team Tag, Protect the Leader, Team Medics, Capture the Flag, and Terminator.

Archery Tag

Teams compete by firing foam-tipped arrows from light longbows in elimination style gameplay. Suitable for school camps, corporate events, or anyone seeing some adrenaline. Adorn your facemask and do battle with your peers in this incredibly popular, modern activity.” New photos for the activity

Oval Games

This is a great way to start or wrap up your camp experience. Our staff will facilitate various activities, from basketball, soccer, and touch football to wide-game-style exercises that will introduce or sum up teamwork experiences.

Rock Climbing

Challenge yourself and build teamwork skills while learning to trust the rest of your group at Rock Climbing. Teams of at least 4 rotate through having a go at climbing and belaying their teammates up the 10m wall.

The wall is suitable for three climbers at once and includes 6 set climbs or a free-for-all option for beginners of all ages and skill levels. A recent refurbishment of this activity saw the existing plywood and netting replaced with moulded fibreglass panels designed to simulate a natural rock surface more accurately.

Orienteering

Split into teams of three to five, each group is given a map of the centre, a compass, and an answer sheet. They are then sent on a ‘scavenger hunt’ to find markers around the site and stamp their answer sheet. There are different courses for Lower Primary, Primary, and Secondary Students, each with 20 markers.

Slip N’ Slide

Get ready for some extreme water fun! Featuring three segments of FunAir’s Super Sweet Slide, and our newly added Aflex 30m section, our Slip N’ Slide can now be a whopping 45m long and runs down the slope to our oval. It includes inflatable barriers to prevent participants from sliding off the edges, making it guaranteed fun, especially on a hot summer’s day.

Leadership Workshop

Through interactive activities and group discussions, students learn various leadership techniques and how to apply them to their daily lives. They share personal experiences and help each other grow toward becoming positive leaders of their time.
